The Androscoggin River

The Clean Water Act of 1972 has had an amazing effect on the Androscoggin River. Once one of the most polluted in the country, it has made an incredible recovery to become a very desirable recreational river for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.

Each year the "Source to the Sea" canoe trek passes through the area; a flotilla demonstrating just how far the river has come, and how much of the shore of the river remains undeveloped.
