History
Granite quarries were one of the first industries in the Jay area. ln fact, in 1912, the Maine and New Hampshire Granite Company made one million paving blocks a year from this quarry! They employed 318 men at a weekly payroll of $9,OOO.OO, which included many artisans from around the world. The white granite from this quarry was in high demand throughout the United States for its color and strength

From North- Follow Route
#4 to North Jay. Turn left onto Old Jay Hill Road. (Across from Junction of Route 17). Drive about one mile and turn left onto Woodman Hill Road. We are right at the top of the hill!
From South- Follow Route
#4 to top of Jay Hill (at Town of Jay Garage). Take right onto Old Jay Hill Road and drive about one mile. Take right onto Woodman Hill Road. We are right at the top of the hill!
